No account. No analytics. No tracking. Your games, saves and settings stay on your phone. The app goes online to show covers and previews, to download games you ask for, and to show ads (never while you are playing).
1. Who this policy covers
This policy describes how the Retro Nes Emulator app for Android (“Retro Nes Emulator”, “the app”) and this website handle information. It is written to match what the app actually does, so it is specific rather than general.
The short version: Retro Nes Emulator has no accounts and no analytics, and the people who make it do not receive any personal data from your use of the app. Everything you download, save or set stays on your phone. The app shows ads outside the player through Google AdMob; see Advertising below for exactly what that involves.
2. What we collect
Nothing. Retro Nes Emulator does not ask you to create an account, does not ask for your name, email or phone number, and does not send usage information, crash reports, advertising identifiers or device identifiers to us or to anyone else on our behalf.
The app contains none of the following:
- analytics, telemetry or behavioural-tracking libraries;
- crash-reporting services that upload data;
- social-login, payment or subscription systems;
- code that is downloaded and run after installation (the emulator is bundled inside the app).
The one exception is advertising: Retro Nes Emulator shows ads through Google AdMob to support the app. AdMob is a third-party service, described in its own section below, not something we built or operate ourselves.
This website is a static set of pages. It does not set cookies, run analytics or load third-party scripts, ads or embeds.
3. What the app stores on your device
To work offline, Retro Nes Emulator keeps the following in its private app storage, which other apps cannot read. None of it is sent to us.
| Data | What it is | How to remove it |
|---|---|---|
| Game files | The games you chose to download. | Delete a game on its page or in Storage Details, or use “Clear All ROMs” in Settings. |
| Saves | Quick-save states, auto-save states and cartridge battery saves, kept per game. | Uninstall the app or clear its data. Deleting a game keeps its saves so you can pick up later. |
| Preferences | Theme, vibration and auto-save switches, your sort choices, recent searches, and when you last played each game. | Clear the app's data in Android settings. |
| Cover-art cache | Pictures of game covers saved so they show without a connection. | Clear the app's cache in Android settings. |
| Emulator storage | Working data of the built-in emulator page, kept in the app's web storage. | Clear the app's data in Android settings. |
Android's automatic app backup is turned off for Retro Nes Emulator, so this data is not copied to your Google account backup. Uninstalling Retro Nes Emulator removes all of it.
4. Network requests the app makes
Retro Nes Emulator works offline once a game is downloaded. The only times it uses the internet are listed below. All connections use HTTPS; unencrypted connections are blocked.
| When | What is requested | Stored? |
|---|---|---|
| You browse the catalog or your library | Cover pictures of the games on screen. | Cached on your device. |
| You open a game's page | A short preview clip, streamed and played in the page header. | Not stored. |
| You tap Download | That game's file. | Saved in the app's private storage. |
The game list itself is bundled in the app, and the emulator runs from files inside the app. The emulator page is locked down so it can only load content that ships with the app and the games you downloaded; it cannot contact any other server.
Who receives these requests
Covers, preview clips and game files are served by a third-party content server (at the time of writing, thebeastchain.com). We do not operate it and do not receive its logs. Like any web server, it can see the technical details of a request: your IP address, the address requested, the time, and your app's standard connection details. How that server handles them is governed by its own policies, not this one. If you would rather not send those requests, do not browse the catalog or download games while online.
5. Advertising
Retro Nes Emulator shows ads served by Google AdMob to support the app: a banner on the catalog and on a game's page, and occasionally an ad when you exit a game. There is never an ad while you are playing. Downloading a game starts with a short ad — watching it to the end is what starts the download; you can cancel instead, and the download simply doesn't start.
To serve and measure ads, AdMob can use your device's advertising ID and can see the technical details of an ad request (your IP address, device and app information, and approximate location derived from your IP). We do not receive or store this information ourselves; it is processed by Google under Google's own privacy policy. You can review or reset your advertising ID, and control ad personalization generally, in your device's Google settings, or opt out of interest-based ads at adssettings.google.com.
If you are in the European Economic Area, the UK or Switzerland, Retro Nes Emulator shows a consent form (Google's User Messaging Platform) the first time it needs your choice before requesting ads, and respects whatever you choose. If that consent step itself fails to load, Retro Nes Emulator does not show ads for that session rather than treating the failure as consent.
Retro Nes Emulator does not include any other advertising network, and does not use ads to profile you across other apps or websites beyond what AdMob itself does.
6. Android permissions
Retro Nes Emulator itself asks for only three permissions, and none of them is a “dangerous” permission that needs a prompt:
- Internet: to load covers and previews, to download games, and for ad requests, as described above.
- Network state: to know whether a connection is available.
- Vibration: for the tick you feel when pressing on-screen buttons, which you can switch off in Settings.
The Google Mobile Ads SDK adds one more, standard for any app that shows ads: an advertising ID permission, used only for the ad purposes described above.
Retro Nes Emulator does not request your location, contacts, calendar, photos, files, camera, microphone, phone identity or notifications.
7. Controllers, keyboards and audio
If you connect a gamepad or keyboard, Retro Nes Emulator reads its button presses only to control the game and does not record or transmit them. The app pauses or lowers the game's sound when a call, alarm or notification needs the audio; it does not listen to or record any audio.
8. How we protect your information
The best protection is not collecting data. On top of that:
- your games, saves and settings live in the app's private storage, isolated from other apps;
- connections use HTTPS, and plain HTTP is blocked;
- the emulator page runs with file and content access switched off and can only reach the app's own files;
- release builds do not keep a diagnostic log.
No method of storage is perfectly secure, and a lost or unlocked phone exposes whatever is on it, including your games and saves. Keep your device locked.
9. Your choices and rights
Because we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing for us to look up, correct or delete. You stay in control of everything on your device:
- delete individual games, or all of them, at any time;
- turn vibration and auto-save on or off in Settings;
- choose light, dark or system theme;
- clear the app's cache or data in Android settings, or uninstall the app to remove everything.
If privacy laws where you live give you rights over personal data (such as access, correction, deletion or objection), they apply to any data a company holds about you. Since we hold none from the app, there is nothing to act on, but you are welcome to contact us with any question.
10. Children
Retro Nes Emulator is a general-audience game player. It does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children, and has no accounts, chat, ads or in-app purchases. Parents and guardians should decide which games are suitable for a child, since the games themselves can carry their own age ratings.
11. How long data is kept
On your device, data stays until you delete it or uninstall the app. We keep nothing about you on our side, so we have no retention period to describe.
12. Changes to this policy
If the app's behaviour changes in a way that affects privacy (for example a new kind of network request), this page will be updated before the change ships, and the date at the top will change. Material changes will also be described in the app's release notes. See also our Terms of Use.
13. Contact
A public contact address for privacy questions will be listed here when the first release is published.
